nest..stuff..lol

Not sure about the DE in compost but I would like to know.
Here is our compost bin made from pallets.
Bottom pallet is covered with tin.
Door opens in front.

Plans are to make another one, behind that one, to rotate the compost.

Not true, you can mix DE with water and apply with a garden sprayer or mix into a whitewash and paint it on surfaces like the inside of the coop. It may wash away after a good rain though.

How is DE applied?
You can apply DE with a Pest Pistol
You can use any type of applicator like the ones in the picture on the upper right of the page. The cylinder with jar in the front is a single action type pump that disperse a fine cloud of DE on foliage. The small unit with the red cap is a "Pest Pistol" used to inject DE into cracks and crevices or as a fog in larger areas. The Chapin compression sprayer can be used by making a thin slurry of DE and water. This method can you give precise coverage and when it dries the DE goes to work. A slurry can also be used as a "paint" on tree trunks to discourage insects and to give sunscald protection to the bark. A slurry paint may also be useful in deterring borers from laying eggs on bark. DE is compatible with Golden Harvest Natural Fertilizer and most other wettable powders or liquid fertilizers and pesticides.

You can mix DE with water and apply it but it's not effective till after it dries. Studies have been done that show DE is only effective as a desiccant. The stuff about "sharp edges" is wrong. It's the drying out it does which kills insects. For the same reason, it's not an effective wormer. And since a compost heap must be moist in order to work, DE is safe in compost.

To the one with mold in the compost: It's too wet and/or there is not enough air circulation.

Thank you!!

You are correct... but "once it gets wet" and "when it is wet" is two different things. IMHO Maybe I misunderstood
