Does anyone have windows or some kind of openings in their exterior nesting boxes? I live in TX where the summers are miserable. I'm designing and building a 4x8 coop with lots of windows for airflow but I'm worried about them sitting in the boxes to lay and getting hot. Wondering if anyone else is as crazy as me and did something about it 🤣 my sketchup plans are attached with what I'm thinking for the windows (we are limited on how many chickens we can have so it's only two boxes, with a window on each side). The shutters would be closable for winter and will serve as cover for when it rains.

I don't live in a hot climate so didn't consider this. I would think the chickens might not like that because they like to lay in dark places, but I could be wrong. Hopefully someone from the south will reply to this thread.
