So do i need to cover the box to make it darker? As the sun does shine in the coop a bit in the middle of the day. Im trying to get one of my hens to lay on the nest again, as two of them were broody for a few days like 2 weeks ago. Here is a picture of the boxes. They use the one closest to the wall the most.

Agreed. You're just gonna have to wait on them to decide when to go. I've never tried fake eggs because mine always go and then I decide to let them set some eggs. My nest boxes are about as well lit.

Well my Brahma sat for 3 days and so did my orpington, but my brahma started plucking her chest feathers. Then i checked to see how many eggs she had and she quickly scurried out and didnt go back in.
