I have looked around on here about duck nests, but my question is this: I have built a coop for my ducks and chickens and I divided it so my 9 chickens have a 10x10 coop and the ducks have a 4x10 coop, I let the ducks in their run (which is 30x14 with a small pond) and put them up at night. This is more of a chore than I thought they don't like using the ramp to get back in so I catch them and put them in the hole, beside that I am scared they will hurt themselves on the siding (the coop in an old loafing shed that was on my property). My Pekin already cut her leg. Anyways I am planning on just building a dog house inside of the run for the ducks and using the inside coop as storage (since I didn't think that thru when building :P) My question is do the ducks need individual houses, or can I build a house big enough for all 4 ducks to go into a night? and if so will they all lay together in there?

They'll be fine in there together, assuming it's large enough. Some would say the ideal size for 4 would be 16sq ft but if you're only keeping them in there at night I think you could get away with alot smaller.

As for where they'll lay - it could be anywhere. Nesting boxes for ducks are not a necessity.

Ok thats what I was thinking from reading around on here. My ducks are about 2 1/2 months old, do you know when they start laying? I am fairly certain I have a Pekin, Cayuga, Rouen, and a Welsh Harlequin (welsh maybe mixed with a Runner, tho she doesn't stand up like a runner so probably just a Welsh) From what I have concluded is they are all female. Tho not quite sure. the Rouen is colored like a female Mallard, that's the only one I am sure of. The Pekin is loud all the time I assume she is a girl. The Cayuga doesn't have the curly tail feather (not yet anyways) and the Welsh I don't know how to tell...
