We just got our coop yesterday. When we looked at it, I told the guy who sold it to us that I thought the nesting boxes were too small. He assured me that he had chickens in the exact same coop - and they use the boxes every day. So we brought it home (two hour drive). This morning I measured the boxes - and they are 8 1/2 " x 9 ". Isn't that too small? I will have Araucanas, New Hampshire Reds and Welsummers. Thanks!

That seems a little small... on our 5 x 6 model the interior nest box measurements are about 10 1/2" x 11 3/4" and everyone seems fine with them!

I made mine about 12"x12"x11" and I thought it was too small. Too bad my pullets don't want to go inside to let me see if the box is big enough!

Thanks, everyone. I think I can (or my husband can) modify the boxes to make them larger.
