Nesting Box With Storage

I'm so happy about the beautiful nesting box my husband built for me. He took my drawing and ideas and created just what I wanted. The bottom 2 boxes are 24" w x 18" h x 18"d for my Jersey Giants. The top 3 are 16" w x 18" h x 12" deep for everyone else. I painted it 2 colors. A darker gray inside the boxes and a beige outside. Once I get it all stenciled up I'll post more pictures. Our new coop is turning out so beautiful. It's coming along. I'm thinking about stenciling "Fresh Eggs" on the slanted storage door. Anyone have any stencil ideas they think would look good?

What are you planning to store in the top?
Are you putting it on the floor of the coop or mounting it to the wall so you don't take up floor space?
If you mount it, the upper nest boxes will likely be higher than your roost.
That is easily fixed by raising the roost height. I would do that regardless as it's so low over the poop board that it would be hard to clean under it. I have mine 13" over the board and that works well.
I would also add cleats to the ramp so they can get up and down easier. You can use 1x2 pieces of lumber attached about 6" to 7" apart.
If you mount the nest boxes, I would also install a perch on front of both levels to make it easier for the girls to access the nests without having to jump up to the edge only to be surprised by a hen that's already in the nest.

Going to be very near the floor. Roosts are above 24" but not higher because of the Jersey's. Bottom of top near box will be below roost height. I've been planning all this out for a while. Ramp is temporary just so we could get the 10 weekend of out the brood area. Putting in chicken wire partitions to separate coop in half to bring in existing 5 hens to see each other for a few weeks before we mingle. Everything is semi temporary until they're coexisting without the divider.

Nice iso with dimensions!

Might want the front lips to be a bit higher(2-4" above bedding).
