I was wondering if you could put your nesting box outside of the chicken coop.

You can put them anywhere you like - the key things to consider are accessibility to the birds at the time they will need them and whether you are concerned about them being inaccessible to others.

ok thank you i was just wondering i am remodeling my coop and would like to have the extra space in my small coop

I assume you're talking about attaching it to the outside of the coop wall. If you do, just make sure that the only opening in and out of the nesting box is from the inside of the coop, away from the coop doorway, and preferably in the darkest part of the coop.
