Nesting boxes...

I like the 5 gallon bucket idea, I have seen them on here too, BUT I can imagine one of my hens jumping down from a perch and getting caught on the sharp cut edges...

I went to Walmart and bought, they are called "pantry shelves" or something like that...

anything plastic is fine by me! Esy to clean out!

The cat litter box is a great idea too!

I had the pantry shelves but the girls would toss all the shavings out due to a shallow edge if only 2 -2 1/2 inches. The cat litter boxes have about 5 inches so the litter stas in the nesting box better.

you can "Borrow" a couple egg creates or milk creates that are so Conveniently left out behind your local grocery store. Turn them on their side and drop some hay in there and you have one low cost nest box.

Wow thanks for all the great ideas!!! I am trying to update the hen house without it costing more than the house I live in

...... But I think the ladies deserve it.... I am off to home depot tomorrow!!
