Nesting Boxes

Quote:
I have mine arranged the very same way with a tin roof at an angle so the don't roost on them.
They share boxes. if you more then say 10-12 I would put use more then six boxes I figured 2-3 to each box and went from there when I built mine.
Be sure to start the nest boxes on the floor until they get used to them then put them in the area that you are going to put them in this way they know they are to lay in the nest boxes not the floor.

We have 2 chickens and 2 nesting boxes - guess maybe we have 1 box too many.
Also, one of them likes stay in her box during the night but poops in it thus getting poop on her eggs. Any suggestions on how to stop this or is this normal chickens to do this?

If there is nothing wrong with her--bad feet, bad wing, etc. just go in after dark and put her on the roost. It might take a week or so, but eventually she'll get the idea and you won't get so many poopy eggs.

I USED MY OLD WOODEN RABBIT HUCTHES 12X12 DRILLED SOME HOLE IN THE BOTTOM SO I CAN CLEAN IT OUT. I ALSO LAY A PIECE OF CARDBOARD IN THE BOTTOM THEN ADD STRAW .

THE CARDBOARD HELPS TO KEEP IT CLEAN . I REPLACE IT ONCE A MONTH IF NEEDED. WE ALSO HAVE THEM NOT MORE THEN 4 FEET OFF THE GROUND . THEY ALSO HAVE PERCHES OUT SIDE THE BOX SO THEY CAN WALK IN
