Nesting boxes

mine had been in their nest boxes, we blocked them off. I went out last night to check on them and they were not roosting. I Think maybe they dont like the roosting poles to close together. I have a tiered system. may have to take some out. anyone's thoughts?

Maybe the roosts are too small. If you have small round roosts, chickens will have to balance themselves. A 2x4 wide side up is great for roosting. plus keeping their feet warm on winter by laying on them. You may want to put them on the roosts at night for a while to get them used to it. But as long as they aren't laying yet, keep the nests blocked. I have one that gets attacked every time she tries to roost, so she goes in the nest for safety.

Sounds like high school girls - refusing to let her join the lunch table. Maybe she could wear spikes as armor - it's not easy fitting in.
