So I am very new to raising chickens. I have 10 1.5 week old RIR, RIW & 8 baby Roos. On nice days we take them out to their run to get some exercise and scratch. One of my girls seems to lay down in the dirt and either take a dirt bath or make a nest in the dirt. Is this normal chicken behavior? It's pretty funny to watch her- my kids get a kick out of watching her.

Yes, that is normal chicken behaviour.

My chicken run is full of holes from the hens dirt bathing.

-perfectly normal! -recently had two Buff Orpingtons begin "dust bathing" on the grass at three days old. -moved them over to the dirt and they had quite the grand time! Dust bathing (even with wee ones) is instinctive.
