I am a newbie and anticipate purchasing my first chickens in the next few weeks. What is a suitable material for nesting in my nest boxes?

Thanks for your prompt reply. Any ideas on what type of store that I can find rice straw?I like to use rice straw in my nesting boxes
It’s easy to clean and they don’t kick it out
I used to use pine shavings but they would waste it by kicking it out and i would have to refill the nesting boxes more often because there would be little in there after a while
good luck with your new chickens and have fun!

I’m not a horse or goat person (knowing nothing of what they eat so don’t quote me on this) as I only have birds but I think you’d buy the straw/hay to feed those animals but we use it as bedding.
