Thanks, Yes I will, I still have a peep trying to zip, she is tapping the shell, im afraid she may not get out, please I want to help her, shes been at it since this morning, im thinking perhaps the shell is too thick, ill check it now and see wether theres any membrane stuck on it from the others hatching around her!!!

I know what you will say but is there any possible way I can start her off, which end of egg will I crack???no not crack but perhaps use a serrated edge and slowly and carefully unzip a teensy bit!!!!!
Go on tell me I can do it!!!!

Thanks Carrie,
I found a great thread by Ozark hen below:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/v … hp?id=9316
Its really helpful in times like this.
I have just sent her an email as I thought i may get quicker help.
Anyhow the chick has now made a tiny hole and is under mum so Ill wait for a reply from Ozark and see if I need to do anything else.
I have a great feeling that the chick will now get out of there, now that the first hole is there.
I did find one poor little chick that had zipped 1/2 way but membrane had dried out and she was stuck. I found her this afternoon, I wish I had found her sooner or I might have helped her out.
I have only 4 chicks out from this hatch, Id prefer 14, joke!
I know its not possible under a banty mum.
Anyhow ill let you know how she goes
Helen

Helen, I can only assume you meant someone else? Since I am Ozark Hen and haven't a clue about haching eggs? LOL Hope you got some advice already.

Helen.....hows the hatch coming!?? Has the little one made it out yet!? Those babies are soooo cute! You are so lucky! I have never seen a partridge silkie...in real life...Hmmm, wonder what DH would say to building ANOTHER coop just for silkies!? I better waite a few years...LOL
Keep us updated....soooo cute!!

Oh Ozark Im so sorry, duh, It is 11.05pm here on Wed.!!!!
The thread was by fowlweatherfriends!!!
I just tested the link to thread and it didnt come up.
anyhow I printed it off for future emergencies.
ill try and put the thread address back in shortly, ill search again. I found it under (search : hatching help*) and i found lots of threads on this subject.
Anyhow, i bought the egg inside for better lighting and got my eyebrow tweezers.
I started chipping carefully at the zip hole, the membrane was very white so it had started to dry out, i moistened it with a drop of water.
the poor little chick was squawking with every little pinch, geez he/she made a racket!! nearly woke the household!
She started to wriggle her foot out of the hole whilst I chipped around, then I saw blood!!!!!
Not alot but enough to cause an anxiety attack!
I hope I havent caused this, I didnt break the membrane, well I dont think I did.
I got the shell off her and she was still tucked up and wet, so I cupped her in my warm hands under my jumper and raced outside and put her under mum.
The chick was cheeping and mum was trying to calm her down whilst wriggling over her.
I blessed the chick with a prayer to St Francis and then had a "chuck" sorry, but for want of a better word I said it!
It was so nerve wracking but also gratifying to think I may have saved her. But also I hope she doesnt suffer any ill effects from my help. She has a nice strong voice, nothing wrong with the "lungs"!
I went outside again and had a listen and all is quiet except for a couple of softer cheeps. If she makes it through I will call him/her lucky and she had better not be a Roo!
The ducklings havent hatched yet but you will be first to know!!!
