Neurological Issue?

Thank you for the input. If I'm giving vit. E should I also give her selenium? Isn't it E that can't be properly absorbed without the selenium? I'll grab a bottle of Poly-Vi-Sol next time I'm at the grocery store but I think I'll check the ingredient list on my loose mineral and if it's iron free I'll see if she'll take a bit. Sorry to hear you've lost some even after getting them past the bobble head thing. I thought I saw my white silkie rooster bobble heading very slightly yesterday too. Sure hope not. His face looks puffy though. I should get a pic of him. Maybe I just got bad stock? If this will be a constant worry, I may not get this breed again. I got chickens as a means of destressing, but worrying about them constantly is having the opposite effect :(

I have two silkies who were doing the same thing vet said wry neck until he saw there ears. they both have ear infection and a worm infection so that on panacur and tetracycline.. i asked about the poly visol and vit e and selium.. he told me to be careful in chickens and vit e.. that vit e is stored in their body and can develop toxic levels.. i didnt ask what vitamins he put in with the tetracycline.. but ill ask im on two full days of antibiotics and wormer and captain pancake isnt getting any better and neither is elenor.. he said captain pancake equilibrium is off and he keeps getting dizzy.. hope your baby gets better too..

Funny you should say that AmyTx101 ... as I watched QT play this morning my thoughts went right to an equilibrium issue which is often attributed to issues with the ear canal. Unfortunately, we don't have a vet out here that works with chickens

so I'm not sure I can find anyone to give me a prescription for an ear infection, but can you give me more information about the worm infestation? What is it and what wormer are you using? That would be most helpful to know.

HI my entire flock have roundworms and hookworm or stongyles (vet called the hookworms strognyles blood suckers) he said that strongyles he had us bring in 3 or 4 different samples from our chickens.. im using panacur for the worms and baytril for the two with an ear infection.. he couldnt see in cptn pancakes ear because his ear was visably swollen and eleonor he could see in it and its infected she has a constant shaking of her head.. I treat the worms for 3 days i have to give individually to all my 28 birds

i have looked and it looks like you can order both of these online.. im not sure if it needs prescription or not.. but most feed stores carry some of these meds.. the wormers im sure but not sure about the other

You can get fenbendazole (the active ingredient in Panacur) OTC at farm stores like TSC but it's not labeled with dosages for chickens since it's not officially FDA approved for use on poultry. I used the Safeguard equine paste on my hen (same med) and it cleared the worms quickly for her.

Baytril is sold OTC for dogs so you'll likely be able to find it at a pet store.
