Nevadans?

Sheryl, did you see Aubrey's post about WH ducks on Craigslist? I sent you a text about it, too. The price is really good, and the dad is show quality. I'd consider calling up and getting some, but I'm more excited about getting ducklings in a few months and don't want to get overrun.

Anyway, I've been thinking about ducks a lot and am getting more and more excited. I almost gave away the secret today. I was sketching out the paintings for the nesting box hatches, and one of the paintings is of a nesting duck. So Sahara says, "Mom, are we getting ducks?" I said, "I told you I was thinking about it, honey." The last time she asked me for ducks, I told her, "I already have all of my hatch orders in for the year." I just didn't tell her that a few ducklings were included on those orders. But I'm a horrible, horrible liar. So if she catches me in a direct yes/no question, I might be in trouble.

While making the coop yesterday, my husband told me he didn't feel well. Colds have been running around, and he had a hard time during the last half hour of the build, so I didn't think he had anything incredibly bad. I made him a plate of Greek food to help him feel better... good food works most of the time, but not this time. He couldn't get down more than two bites. About 9pm, I stuck my digital cooking thermometer in his mouth and it read 104 degrees. It's not a medical thermometer, but it's pretty accurate, so I ordered him right to bed. Today, it read 98.6 exactly. He's feeling better, but he slept all day today, and is asleep again. He's planning to go right in to work tomorrow.

Hey everyone, I have two WCB Polish Roos for sale. I have three so I dont need all three. They came from a breeder who's family has bred for 2 generations. They use to show all the time but not as much now. I guess you call them breeding stock. They are sweet and well mannered with very impressive long Crests. Would trade for WCB pullet or possibly another color but must be the same breeding stock quality. Rats, I can't post pictures from my iPhone but you can see them on my FB page until I get to my laptop. My page is www.facebook.com/pamelakirbyfunk

PM me for pricing.

Dangit. Maybe if I put them in a totally pink coop for a few months they'll go into some deep soul searching? Stop crowing and start a big-booty sashay?

Ok, I'm using the Tapatalk app so I'm going to try to post pics of my Roos I'm selling. Boy, sure easy to use!
Removed the pics because they showed up again after I posted them again...Oops! Sorry for the here a roo, there a roo, everywhere a roo.....at least you can't hear them crowing!

Why do I feel like an enabler! Oh, and I'm driving to San Fransisco on Thursday and then again on the 21st!
I don't need another roo

I don't need another roo

I don't need another roo

They sure are pretty boys!

I go to the ortho surgeon this week and I think there's a second break, so need to get it checked out asap.

Sunny got a couple of Karen's prize winning eggs, so I hope they hatch for her. My girls are much older and just starting back to laying, so my egg color next to Karen's was pathetic. LOL That's okay. My girls were laying 8's when I got them and 6
s and 7's ;ast year. I have a lot of faith in anything lay now and I hatch out producing some really dark eggs later. The olive eggs I sent with her are getting faded out, but they should hatch out some nice Olive layers.

Sunny check in when you get home!

I hope your hand heals up correctly and quickly!

Praying all is well with Sunny and Steve! Sounds like it was a great visit.

Kim, just one word - OUCH! Hang in there girl! I still think you should make your way over here though.

Daniel - forgot to say congrats on your new layer. We have 9 out of 10 laying right now, Monique has taken the most time off so far but she's getting ready to lay again. She's going into the coop everyday and eating a bit of oyster shell but not really a lot compared to everyone else.

Okay, if you don't want your drake to eat blue eggs then you need to get him out of the coop. Found this out the hard way, Justin has eating 3 of Sundae's eggs now. For some unknown reason he thinks blue eggs do not belong in the nest boxes so he eats them, shell and all. I thought perhaps Sundae's eggs were getting broken and they were eating them but noooooo I found out a few days ago it's my drake checking everyone's eggs out and he does not like the blue ones.

They will be getting their own area and house in a bit so hopefully John will get to it sooner than he planned?

I'm still thinking if I should take the job or not. I really feel I don't want to but there's this little tiny bug in my head telling me to take it. John would like me to go back as well but he said it's up to me if I do. We don't fight or have stress over money at all, so I don't need to worry about that. I love how busy the job is. I won't get bored there ever. The hours suck so much and the days off are not what I like at all so I really don't think I'm going to take it. It's up to the Director to come to me and talk to me about it. But I'm pretty sure I won't be going back.

I had to stay up late tonight because I decided to make some sourdough bread. I have my starter going all of the time and thought it would be good for me to make some bread and think what I want to do. My small finger hangs down below my hand now and it actually hurts to use it so I think I should go ahead and get the surgery done this year, which is also why I don't think I should go back to my old job.

I didn't know that drakes would eat eggs like that. Hopefully you'll get your duck housing soon. Hope you can make your decision about your job and feel good about it.

we're all enablers on here!

Congrats on the two eggs Elizabeth! Poor Laila. She probably felt so bad stepping on one of the eggs.

Missy that coop looks great! Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done. I sure hope your Hubby feels back to 100% today!

Lacey I love all the pics! You're adorable! Your Mom looks very familiar. Probably seen her at North Valleys when my kiddo went there. That mermaid pic of your sister is hilarious! Congrats on the new chickens.
The way you describe this thread is exactly how I feel about it. It's not just a thread it's a community. I love sharing my life with you all!

Well, as Kim said, we made it home alright but yes, we were exhausted from the drive (I hate driving in the snow but it was not a really heavy snow) and my back was hurting worse when I got done last night that it has hurt in a very long time. Today I am just being lazy, enjoying chicks and making sure the bator is running true before I set eggs.

Sheryl good luck whatever you decide. We've talked about this before so you know my feelings on letting work take over your life but it's such a personal decision and there are so many variables from person to person. I just hope you choose whatever will make you the happiest in the long run.

Pam I wish I knew what my little chicks will turn out like! I may really need a good roo for breeding and wouldn't mind trading a pullet for them but at this stage I have no idea what I'll need in a few months.

Kim you are making perfect sense! It's important to be close to your support network. Vital even when something goes wrong and you need help! Thanks for letting everyone know we got home safe. I was too pooped last night once I finally got everyone tucked in last night.

Sorry about yesterday. I wasn't feeling well and went home early and went to bed, I slept for 5 hours. Wow, haven't been like that in a long time.

I saw your post Aubrey and I did receive your text Missy but I really think all will be good with the breeding. I'm not ready to start group B & C yet so I must wait until I am on getting more stock.

I'm setting the eggs on Sunday and already collected 2 this morning. Missy, you should have your little ducklings next month if all goes well. The incubator is holding the temp and humidity just right so I know I'm ready to go Sunday.

So I have decided to not even go after the job at all. I'm not one for an all boys club and that is what it has become now. Anyways, thank you everyone for your input as well. I love being happy with being me and I want it to stay that way.

Glad to hear you made it back home safely Sunny! I know what you mean about driving in the snow. I heard it was a white out today up there so I'm glad you didn't even attempt to come home today. They just lifted the requirements on the hill just a bit a go.
