Nevadans?

I have no idea why that link appears at the bottom of my post as well. When I hit edit it disappears. Maybe it's only on my screen.

I see the extra link, too. who knows why?

Anyway, you are brooding like crazy over there! You need to have a good system or you'll go nuts. I may switch to sand in the brooder. I forgot about that when I was setting up. Seems like it would be much easier and cleaner than shavings.

REHAB!!!!! UNH UH! Ain't nobody making me go into treatment for this addiction! I'm having the time of my life! I don't care what anyone says, this stuff isn't harmful at all. In fact I think it's good for you! I mean even ancient peoples have been known to keep a few too many chickens. NO WAY NO HOW am I gonna give up my chicken addiction. You..., you stay away from me Eth or Seth or whatever your name is! I know a hustler when I see one! You can go sell that snake oil remedy of yours someplace else!

I have a 150 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank. I got it to use as a filter for the pond I was going to build but have not gotten around to building the pond. Mostly I don't know what I will do with all the dirt when I dig it out. It woudl make a perfect brooder for a bunch of chicks but they cost about $1 a gallon.

Missy, be vary careful about adding sand to your soil. We add sand to the dirt in our back yard to make something that is very much like concrete. Works very well for that. I have learned a ton about the soil here in Nevada this year. I have observed it for years while trying to garden in it. But never understood the why of compost just vanishing in it. sand turning it to concrete etc. You can eventually break it up but it takes time.

Ok, good to know. My husband says his family added sand to the garden all the time to break up the clay, but that was in Idaho. Usually I just add a lot of organic matter.

5 eggs today! A new record! So I know at least one of the new girls is laying.
