Nevadans?

How fun! I love sac state fair but carson is soooooo much closer with birds and toddlers and teenagers, lol!

I know! My kids are so excited to get the fair back! We used to hang out all day, everyday of the old fair
in Reno. I sure hope some of our BYC friends enter too with all these beautiful birds pics posted on here.

Thank you! I'll go see what kind of grains they have!  While I was reading up on how good they are for chickens, I came across a site saying they grown them for both their girls and themselves, so now I'm going to try them as well!
By the way, the 3 girls are doing great and are almost ready to go in with the others! The poor faverolle and wyandotte had a little hiccup with laying, lol. Both girls didn't lay for a few days, then both laid HUGE eggs and then stopped. But the marans has been laying like a champ!

Try alfalfa first! Easy, pretty cheap, grown fast. My kids love alfalfa sprouts. They call them baby trees.

I have a light in the coop your girls were in. Don't know if you light yours. They might be adjusting to that, the change, new food...that's a lot of change. Did you get your new feed? :)

Right in the middle of summer?  What kind of accommodations do they have for poultry and do they have to stay there the entire time?

Since this is the very first year in Carson City I am not sure what the accommodations will be like. I believe I read on their site that the animals would be housed in tents. At the Reno fairs they had huge swamp coolers they ran inside ( Reno fair used to be the end of August right smack dab in molt season)

Yes I am pretty sure they poultry would be at the fair the entire time. Judging is usually Saturday morning and coop out would be Sunday mid day. (I'm guessing that is what is done at normal shows)

Please feel free to ask on the fair Facebook page about accommodations because that is a good question!! And suggest cooling for livestock especially rabbits and poultry.
