Nevadans?

.Nevada Ron, do you have a photo of your cross beak. I have one Hen(!) now that had a pretty well over grown beak,,she was having a hard time eating and i could tell she was starting to drop off a little..I clipped it off and she is just happy as a clam now..running around saying" I can eat!! I can eat!!"... I know..I spend too much time out there...anyway, I am interested int he beak thing so I will try and find you over in diseases..

I've been hearing about a lot of this lately. If it is interferring with their ability to eat then you can take a dremel tool and sand it down. Also works for an overgrown beak.

BTW, good morning everybody!

My hens have really gone into full production these last few days! I got 18 eggs yesterday out of 21 hens. Now is when my desire to have enough eggs to get us through winter seems a little insane.

Here is the picture of little "CB" - my new name for her.

She still seems to be eating and drinking just fine.

Oh and Sunny your girls got a new run yesterday! They scratched up several worms then dug themselves a place for dust baths.

So it looks like they are settling in nicely. One of these little cuties will be joining them when large enough.

Thanks you guys..The dremmel tool would hurt me more than the chicken! The split second clippers was bad enough! There was time when I had to help cut the ingrown horns on cows..That is brutal:idunno

Groana's beak is just over grown..starting to hook back..reminds me of women with those really long fingernails that have to pick up things on the side....

lol, that would be great, but i cant even get my 1 year olds up to the house yet. i tried with bread but they stayed down near the coop all day. the 2 year olds run right to the house though, they love digging for worms in the flower beds lol. the 2 year olds have been all over the property, i may be able to coax them down to the fence. unfortunately i lack grapes...

And to answer your question, no, it doesnt get old having chicks. You should get more!! IFA has some Red Sex Links and Cal has... like 8 different breeds. they have the Easter Eggers, if you want green eggs too. but if you don't want more chickens, i guess i can always just sell you some of my green eggs
