NOW MY PEGGY HAS DIED!

What the hell is going on this week???

If some of you recall, Peggy is my crippled showgirl that I decided to keep and took to the vet many times. I take special care to feed her and move her around the yard during the day. She is very sweet but very imobile. I found her up on the deck which she could not physically have been able to do which means someone killed her. If it had been the cats, Elvis would have heard the commotion and run out to her. That means it must have been Elvis

he is typically afraid of the chickens, but the way Peggy flaps around he tries to play with her and I think.. Well I don't know. She had no puncture wounds or scrapes. I don't know how she could have died but the dog brought her up on the deck for sure.

I am heartbroken. She's my special girl. To make matters worse, when I found her- Petey ran up and had his way with her dead body.

I HATE THIS WEEK SO MUCH.

Oh Aubrey - I am so sorry and sad

If you found no wounds on her, I would not be quick to blame Elvis. It could be that she passed away due to something internal and he found her, bringing her up to the porch.

Not saying that it was not him...........but I would not be quick to blame him, until I saw him do something. He was so unphased here, when the pullets freaked out over him - not a sign of a prey driven dog. I would keep an eye on him for a bit extra....just in case. With a move and all the stress that has, just a cautious eye.

As for the hormonal Petey

cockerels - they can make you wanna pull your hair out (or their feathers

Oh no! Not again, poor Aubrey! I do not know if this is the case but roosters are known to kill hens especially if they are not able to fully function.

PM me your schedule and let's get together!

I did not discipline Elvis because like you said, Genny, I have my doubts that he did it. He really doesn't have a prey drive, you're right. And poor Peg had not a mark on her. I'd think if a dog as strong as him killed anything there would be blood for sure. I just have no clue.

Sheryl I'm free whenever! I think we should all try to get together for a lunch or something. Are you gonna be at the swap tomorrow? It 9am to 1pm....

We are planning to butcher the big pig tomorrow. By the time we get to the FFA Auction he is going to be too big, and he is also snapping at the smaller pig now when he tries to stick his head in the food bowl. Over the next few weeks the little one will hopefully get to perfect weight. My question is, where do you shoot it. Ive heard that there has to be a perfect spot in the head where you have to shoot them for it to work, so I was wondering where this is. Hopefully someone (Probably Ron?) Can tell me. Thanks!

Hey guys,
Someone gifted me a GF membership today and I just wanted to say that if its one of you, thanks. It meant so much to me to know I was thought of today, I darn near cried. I love it here and I LOVE my Nevada BYC members!

Wasnt me (I'll be lucky to have $$ to renew my own lol) But congrats on the GFM! Its always nice to be gifted something! And that means someone on here thinks you are really deserving of it! I'm not sure what I did to originally deserve mine because it seems i do alot more asking people questions then helping people answer questions

Sorry Aubrey but I have a full coop now and wouldn't change it for the world! I took 3 of Sunny's ladies.

Thank you for asking though and congratulations on the GFM gift! You are a very special person here and people know that.
