Nevadans?

No I can't.

My internet was out for a couple days. PM me for a funny story.

Trent got Second place Senior Buck out of 7 American Sable Senior bucks.
Which is great as he's from the first litter of rabbits I've ever had.

congrats on a good showing for Trent!

aubrey, i ordered 25 chicks from ideal so I wouldn't get any males for warmth and have to deal with that. But I did order in Sept so I think they probably wouldn't have added any at that time of year anyway since it was still warm. I bet at this time of year you will probably get the extras. I guess you'll find out soon!

sunny, good to know that the memories of my homemade costumes will be fond! I have hope! She did like it but fussed about it falling off her head, etc. That dementor costume sounds cool! love harry potter. My kids call him "harry pasta" because laila came up with that little joke all on her own when she was 2. They haven't seen the movies or read the books yet, of course, but they've heard jose and i talking about it.

Cute story! Yes my son is one of the die-hard HP fans from when they first came out. He's always been a huge book fan but these were the first books that we ever had to stand in line for hours to get! Yes he's one of those. Luckily Barnes and Noble had a different system for their first shipments since most of the fans (at that time) were kids and they couldn't be camping out. They had us line up the day before the book release and the first 100 fans got a wrist strap and once you had that you were guaranteed your book from the first shipment which arrived at midnight the following night. Yes we let him go at midnight (with us, he was only 10) to pick it up but this wrist strap made the process much less painful! lol We still had to stand in line for about 5 & 1/2 hours though.

That first Halloween he went as Harry Potter but the next year he insisted on doing something really hard to pull of so he wouldn't be dressed like half the other kids on the block. I have to admit, the Dementor costume was a work of art but he was right, it was not the easiest thing to wear. Oh how I miss the days of the Teddy Bear and flower (his sister's) costumes. I should have saved them all and they give me a very hard time for not doing so but when I put that much time into a costume I like to see it being used every year so I usually sold them after Halloween to friends that asked for them. I really loved designing costumes. I should have done it for a living but my back won't let me get too carried away these days.

OK! Just got some good new about the Poultry Show. Peter Ovalle just sent me this email.

Hello, I’m happy to announce the first ever MCC USA sponsored egg show in Nevada! The Northern Nevada Poultry Fanciers Association (NNPFA) has agreed to allow for the egg show at their annual show.

This show will be held on November 19, 2011, at the Nevada State Fairgrounds/Reno Livestock & Events Center Pavilion in Reno Nevada. The Marans Chicken Club USA (MCC USA) is excited to be following up the recent success experienced at the Crossroads of America Poultry show with yet another first.

Please mark your calendars and don’t forget to get your egg entries in. Egg entries will be accepted up until November 18th.

...Remember, MCC USA egg shows are open events and all marans owners are encouraged to participate. Don’t miss this great opportunity to introduce more people to marans.

Please direct all egg show queries and entries to me at the address listed below [email below]. Bird entry forms must be postmarked by November 7th. More event details can be found by visiting the NNPFA club website: http://www.wix.com/poultryfancier/nnpfa#!

Okay so Im all set for the babes to come. They SHOULD be here tomorrow or the day after...saturday at the latest. I dont know, i am kind of confused. I got three emails yesterday saying my order had been shipped and then four e-mails today saying my order had been shipped. (hopefully that doesnt mean i am getting 7 orders of 12 chicks!!!!)
I dont really know how long these things take. Id like to think they overnight em but i guess its just as likely that they just use regular mail. that means that they probably wont come till friday or saturday.

the good news is that our crappyest roomate just moved out of her space in the basement which means that instead of being in the chilly garage, the chicks will have their very own room! this will be nice because when they get big and fly out of the brooder they can just wander around the room all day since its just laminate flooring. Also they will have the heater when its on in the rest of the house. Should be a pretty good solution to having chicks in the dead of winter.

ETA: yes, i do think the basement was remodeled in the 70s.

Haha, that sounds great!! lol Aubrey, you reminded me of this one time. The post office called us to say we had a package in, and we went to pick it up and there were like ten turkeys in it from Ideal. We ordered from them before, so all the info was correct saying they were ours and everything, but we never ordered them. My mom called Ideal and said we didnt order anything, and the lady didnt believe her. It got to the point where my mom's like "I promise you sent me chicks. Listen" And she held the phone up to the turkey box. We werent set up for them or anything, and the receptionist kept saying she was positive they didnt send anything out. The post office people were like 'well, you cant ship them back or anything. So congrats." And we ended up keeping them. That was years ago, but I'm never going to forget my mom on the phone in the middle of the post office with an open box of turkeys sitting on her lap getting all frusterated. Ahh, the looks we got that day.
