Nevadans?

Welcome Bloomie! 'Bout time we had someone from the eastern part of the state on here! You said you live outside of Elko? Hope that means you're not held to that only 2 chickens per household law that Elko has. 2 chickens is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. That wouldn't be enough eggs to feed 1 person much less a whole family! I would have to be an outlaw if I lived in Elko. Anyway thanks for joining us! We'd love to see pics of your birds if you have any.

Just learned how to make a "Chicken Page" and posted the few shots I took as we built the Squawk Box and moved the gang in.
Will take some better photos of the hens & roosters so maybe ya'll can help me figure out what breed they are.
Right now the Squawk Box is sittin' in the middle of our nekked, snow covered, 100x50 ft garden area.
When Spring arrives we'll get to plantin' the garden and makin' the chicken run....ever-thin will be all purdee-dup with sunflowers too!
I hope to share the transformation on our page

Let me know when you have hatching eggs to sell, or Marans chicks cuz I have a friend who wants to get some... and no, I'm not just talking about myself!

I think that there are about 20 or less eggs left and several of those were pipped this morning. Some pretty cool colors too, splash and blues even, but like I said before some could be purebreds but more than likely are mixed breeds with pure parents. I'll let you guys know the final tally. If your 'friend' would want some of these I might be able to help you out.

Bloomie. Your chickens appear to be Cochins or a mix of at least.

I don't think they really care at all about pure breds they just learned about the beautiful dark marans eggs and want to try some that will provide them. I'll talk to them and see if they would be interested in getting some mystery chicks. They had a few chickens laying eggs that they had gotten as chicks at a feed store last spring but just suffered a massacre. The gate was left open and a dog got quite a few of their girls. They were going to get some from MyPetChicken, cuz they only want a few, but were extremely excited to learn they could buy locally. Maybe you could PM me your number or something and I could pass it on or maybe set up a time to come visit?!?

Not too bad a job, but not great fun either. I'd be fine if I never had to do it again.

Working on gathering what I need to make a 'bator today. We'll make it on Monday since there's no school.

The weather is beautiful today! I might even get some seeds into the garden. So far I have chives and dill coming up.

Another one of my 3 yr olds has been checking out the nests! Yay! I'm hoping for some more eggs ...

Evonne - I'm getting so excited for you and your eggs.

Ke_ben - I'll be calling them today. Thanks.
