did you say you were in the vegas area??

if you are and you're interested in buff laced polish, i may have some to spare coming up soon.. gotta see how many i get in the order i have coming in....
and depending on when you're ready to actually get birds and whether you want chicks or POL hens, i might have some silkies or silkie mixes...
i also have some mille fluer cochin bantams that i'll start hatching in about 6 weeksish.... and they are just the cutest little things ever.... they're a project color, so the type isn't as good yet, and the colors don't breed quite true yet so it is a potluck chicken.. don't know what the color will end p till it gets it's adult feathers.. but i love them...
i'm also about 4-6 months out on a few different sexlink pens... but it sounds like you'll be ready for birds before that...
good luck with the rest of your coop and let me know about the polish... i'm getting day old chicks from leon valley next week and we're getting a very few silver laced, more buff laced than i wanted, a few golden pheonix, and a bunch of egyptian fayoumi..... and on the off chance that i don't get as many of the buff laced as i though i would, as long as i get a pair of either color i'll have eggs soon enough...
and i know a certain someone who has welsummers too.... actually a few someones and one who may have to rehome one or more if crowing starts happening.. lol.. so welsummers aren't a problem down here... they sure are pretty roosters.. i'm tempted to start a pen or two of them too... lol..

My Rooster is nicer than my adult hen. His view of the back yard is blocked by a 2 foot tall wood wall. But he has a perch he can jump up on to see what just made that noise or whatever. When he hears someone come out the back door he jumps up on the perch and crows at them until they come talk to him. He is a little shy about my hand when I first reach for him but once he realizes it is not trying to eat him he lets me pick him up. then hen does not like getting within reaching distance. S far the Hen we know is fertiles. but the rooster is not getting the job done. Being a Serama there is a high concern that he could be infertile. But at this time I am not sure just when I should give up. He is still pretty young 6 months anyway. And I hear a lot of stuff does not kick in in Serama until they are a year old. I just really hate to loose a n entire laying season with a fertile hen waiting for him to mature.

do not eat your friends.. no matter how many times they try to jump onto the smoker while you get it ready.....

happy memorial day guys... don't forget to say a prayer of thanks for the heroes no longer with us

Yea pretty sure human meat doesn't taste so great since most wild animals avoid eating us.

Thanks laceynoelle. I will keep a rooster in the running. They are so darn purdy! I don't really need chicks, just eggs. Anyone have comments are silkies and polish's being mixed in. I've heard they aren't always reliable layers, but any feedback would be great. Thanks! P.S. Husband is getting lots of overtime this weekend so the chances of the coop/run getting done in the next week or so are good!

Yes, I'm in the Vegas area. I'm in the Northwest almost to the Mt. Charleston exit. I would be very interested in the polish! My husband is getting a lot of overtime this weekend, so I'm thinking we'll be able to get all the materials we need to finish the coop in the next week or two. What's your opinion on the Polish's and Silkies? I'm interested in eggs only but they are so pretty! The Welsummer roosters are so gorgeous! I don't really need a rooster, but they are so colorful. I would want to start from a chick so it could be handled a lot and then maybe there wouldn't be so much of a chance of it turning out mean. But heck, what do I know. I'm a beginner that hasn't even started yet!
