Nevadans?

Had some frozen corn/peas/carrots that were a bit freezer burnt - put them on a dish with cold water - the corn is all gone - peas and carrots slowly being eaten. Sprayed part of the run (in the shade) with water - let's see what happens.

So here's the coop:

Ok I'm excited by my find today. I've been looking for a heating element, cheap. So I went to the thrift store today looking for a toaster oven to tear apart and found one of those quesadilla makers. You know the kind they sold awhile back that browns a quesadilla on both sides at once and scores it into wedges. Well I realized what a great set of heating elements they would make for a large cabinet incubator. I have already removed the housing and it's gonna work perfectly! It was only $5.00!

Gotta wait till payday to pick up any more supplies though.

's NV thread! My BOs are my favorites, too. Much less spooky than the RIRs and BSLs. They are always the first to greet me when I come into their run - actually, they are waiting at the door for me and I have to shoo them back just to get in!

SparksNV nice looking coop!

I have a raised coop also, and my gals hang out under it panting when it's hot, too. Only on the hottest days, though - and they don't seem any the worse for the experience. I do occasionally wet down the area under the coop for them - not soaking, just spray it down a little. Temps in the triple digits are fairly rare here, and now that we're out of July they are even less likely.

penturner I like the idea of the nipple waterers in principle, but I'm more concerned about freezing than water being too hot. I'll be looking forward to hearing how they work out for everyone

Thanks for the compliments! We actually reused/recycled alot of the material we used. By painting it, it allowed the shed to look more uniform and not so piece mealed.

Ken B- I love looking at roosters - they sure are pretty, uhhh handsome! I wish we could have one.

It was amazing, last was their second night here and they all filed into the coop on their own at dusk! We didn't have to catch them and put them in.

Then they all got up on the roosting planks and alot of pecking going on while they determined who roosts where. Dh opened the pop door before he left for work (around 6am) and when I got up this morning, they were all nested on the ground in the coop in the corner by the people door/food/water.

We have figured out the low chicken in the pecking order. Her name is Flower (my granddaughter named her). Either Sassy or Cabo, is top hen. It has provided alot of entertainment for us!

I made some veggie ice muffins yesterday. I put some frozen veggies in cupcake tins and topped off with water. I plan on giving them some later today.

Nevada Ron I guess the chickens feel safe there. I hope to see them out more as the weather cools off.

We will be weeding my veggie garden and flower garden today - I will give them some of the weeds & see what they will do.

I tried putting in a mister system to help with heat, but didn't like it - I think I will return it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday...

well I thought I put a post on here this morning about the nipples. Guess I forgot to click send. Would not surprise me.

Okay my final count is
Sunny 20
Sparks 10
Horsfeatherz 10
I want 20 plus some extras (10) for a total of
70
New total will alter the per price but only by pennies. Not sure if for the good or bad.

Anyway I am about to put the order in so expect them to be here by the end of the week. Will keep everyone updated.

well here is an update on the waterers. The money I transfered to our bank account in order to do this got spent. My wife didn't know what it was for. So I have to transfer it again. It takes a few days. So things will go a little slower than I expected but I am still on it.
