Sunny An incredible thing has happened............well, incredible to me.............one of the EEs from the fertility hatch (Jan chick) is..............broody!!!!!!!! They are all laying (or were, minus miss broody) and all a blue-r than green egg. Which I would expect, being they are just one breeding off from Ameraucana. I am giving miss broody a few days to be certain, and then will put eggs I want to hatch under her.
Okay you're all in big trouble now. I just figured out how to upload pics to here from my phone, so give me a minute and I'll show you all the stuff I've been wanting to show you
Okay so remember how I wanted to show you guys how much room the chickens have now compared to te old house? Well here's some pics from the pen at the old place. As you can see it was pretty crowded in the end there.
Now here's some of the new yard! It ain't pretty that's for sure, but the girls have been so happy since we got here. There's a huge shade tree and a gigantic deck to play under.
You can see AGGIE front and center in this one
Here's some of mama with her new babies. The one bcm that I hatched and two sl Cochins from genny. She loves her babies so much and has been an incredible mom!
My new polish. I LOVE her. She is a total sweetheart. She already follows me aroun and let's me love on her. Shes totally awesome.
And genny here is the Cochin. I think the lady said she's around three months old. She won't let me anywhere near her so I can't get a good picture.
And last but not least, some headstones I painted to honor my poor girls.
it was Elvis who killed Peggy! I just watched him kill my new polish pullet!
poor thing was bleeding out of her eyes. She died in my arms choking to death
I cannot deal with this. I guess I'm going to have to pen them up.
GENNY if you want that barred Cochin you can have it. I don't want it. I only got it to keep the polish company. It wot let me anywhere near it and right now it just reminds me that I finally got the polish I've been looking for and it was sweet and loving and ecause of my neglect it's dead. Please just take this Cochin anyone. I don't want it.
Imagine an "X" drawn from ears to eyes. Then shoot right where the lines intersect.
Well, this year's new juveniles have started laying!
The EE's appear to have started first. But today there was a lot of commotion from their coop and I found 8 eggs, brown and green, when I checked. These are the four from yesterday.
Here's some pics of the goats my friend Sunny W got yesterday, for only $12.50 ea.!
Mama and two babies, one boy, one girl.
Close-up of the little boy. Mama won't nurse him so he has to be bottle fed!
And papa a.k.a. "Billy".
Aubrey I asked that guy about the goat herder(?) here in Dayton today. He said the last time he spoke with him about it (last summer), he was willing to sell him a nanny with two kids for $80! He's not sure what the breed is called but he says they are a dual purpose milk/meat. You could probably feed the kids for 60 days and sell them to someone for meat for the price you paid for all three!
ETA: Just caught up, wow, how'd I get 3 pages back in only one day?
Looks like Genny beat me to the scoop on how to bull's eye a pig Jeep. Anyway, good luck with your venture!
Oh Aubrey I'm so sorry to hear about your polish!
But, now that you have a really big yard you can create a large run for your girls like I have!
I really feel a lot better with them safely tucked in their fortress. And, it's large enough for them to get plenty of exercise.
