In todays job market you've got to flood your town with applications! Don't get discouraged after only one rejection. In this tough a market you've got to expect a lot of those but be diligent it'll happen.

I know this is the at least 5th job I've applied at. Oh well I guess Home Depot will like all my business. HAHAHA.
I guess I'll make my pet/farm and ranch sitting business cards and dro them off at the Hay and Grain out here. If I had a car and a license I would try in Reno.

I agree on the online...My husband has been unemployed for 2 years. he takes care of our 4 year old twins but is now starting to look for some part time work in the evenings and weekends. he doesn't even get a rejection from most of the online apps.

Keep submitting wherever you can, though, Tyler! And if you know someone, i think it really helps.

I dont even understand why they all switched! Having to turn in an application sure helps weed out the lazy people

I know I would much rather have an interview and turn in an app but no one even hands applications anymore. I would rather an interview then one of those what would you do pick A, B, C, D, or E. I like D but I would match it with C and maybe A if I could feel it worked.

After the dot com crash in 2000 (the "Dot Bomb" as we affectionately called it

) I sent out over 500 resumés over the next 7 or 8 months and got two interviews! That was when I decided to leave CA and come back to NV - I figured if nothing else I would go broke more slowly here.

Anyway I was here less than a month when I got a job and I still work for that same company!

Yes my DH was out of a job for more than 3 years, unless you count a part-time job at Home Depot, which he got after a year and a half out of work. He has a Master's Degree in Business and 40 years experience but had to settle for Home Depot. I feel sorry for young folks just starting out these days. If folks with Master's degree's are taking jobs at Home Depot what does that leave for the young folks? Of course sitting at home and not even trying doesn't get it done either. Putting out business cards and showing up looking and acting professional to every job (or any possible networking event) will go a long way though.

I'm looking for a job too right now. Anybody want to hire an old gal that can't lift over 10 lbs (on a good day)? My management skills are top notch though! Well except I can't type.

I might of found a job but I'm not saying anything about it this time.

My hen house needs to be cleaned how much do you charge an hour?

Ha ha ha. My current rate is $85 an hour which is toward the lower end of the scale for a designer, but what the heck, I could clean a coop for that rate too! Did I mention that I'm really old and it may take me several hours to clean the coop?

Darn if I know being a chicken coop would ay so well I'll do it for $50.00 an hour. And because I'm so young it will take me at least 2-3 hours.
