I'd love to go meet goat people, is the Lyon county fair on Sunday too? Maybe If I can't make it I can put an ad on craigslist asking people if I can come over and meet their goats. I wonder how well that will go, lol.

I dot care if we do barfly ranch, Sheryl. Sounds like you really want to go there and I don't think anyone else minds. Do we have a time?

I've been on the forum before but haven't said much, just taking in all the advice. Great stuff. I don't have my chickens yet, hopefully soon, I'm so excited.

I see there are others in Spring Creek and would like to hear from you. I live out by the Horse Palace and we're just finishing up our coop. We've lived here for 2 years having come from CO. It seems according to my research, that Rhode Island Reds, Leghorns, Buff Orpingtons, and Americaunas seem to be the best for our weather. Does that seem right? I'm looking for 18 week old pullets and bypass the chick stage for now. 6 would fit nicely in my coop and pen. What kind of critters do we have around here to be careful of? I'm trying to get pics loaded on a page but not having much luck.

When I get it figured out I'll load pics.

The time I had set up was 2:00pm because of the people who are out of town and I figured there would be traffic trying to get into Reno.

Bartley Ranch it is and it's located on Lakeside Dr. in Reno just off of McCarran.

Sunny the changes I would make for pigs would be a larger pen, and a better feeder, something they couldn't turn over or step into and that could be filled from outside the pen. I saw a feeder someone had made out of an old water heater cut in half that looked pretty cool.

Welcome Country Hen! I'm new on here myself and don't have chickens yet either. Just post 2 more times (at least 10 total) and then you'll be able to post pictures.

gitlost80 thanks for sharing pictures of all your animals. I looked on your BYC page and that munchkin cat is adorable! Enjoy burning man! My co-worker is coordinating the MidNite Popcorn Palace camp and they have been building away getting ready.

Sunny, crossing my fingers on your egg hatching! what kind of incubator do you have? maybe sometime in the future i would explore hatching.

We haven't broken ground on the coop yet but I've worked on the plans a bit more. Based on some of your comments and other posts I've read on BYC, I've decided that insulating the coop is not necessary at my Reno location. Now I'm working on the ventilation plan.
