i got sick of ramen, mac n cheese and tuna! my undergrad is in Psychology and Spanish and my Ph.D. is in Social Psychology. I work at UNR doing program evaluation now. We are a grant-funded center (no state funding) and we work with different non-profit organizations as well as some campus entities to help evaluate their programs. i like it--very applied--not as abstract as research can be.

laceynoelle, your mom should definitely consider tmcc. those career colleges are really expensive and I'm not sure how high the quality is. tmcc can be very affordable. my husband has taken classes there.

I understand that! I'm afraid I hated High School. I didn't go to college until I was 28. No one in my family had gone to college so it wasn't something I had ever considered. However college is a completely different world. It's nothing like High School, thank goodness. Although by the time I had my BA I was pretty burnt out on college too. Well more burnt out on being a poor college student since I puy myself through school as a single parent. Whew those were lean times!!!

Wow! Sunny, I almost could've written that post. Ditto to everything you said, except I never quite got to the BA. I stopped 27 credits shy and joined my Husband in his business instead. I have never been sorry either. I missed all that political hoorah in my chosen profession. Ahhh! What a shame. I loved college though. Those where fun years in spite of taking care of a child along with going to school. I was surprised at how different it was from high school, and I really started learning something, when I got there.

Yep. It's so different! I hated High school and seriously didn't learn much at all. Loved college though. What did you major in?

Aub did you notice your goat was eating the house?

Man they are so cute. I need a place in the country. Hopefully not to much longer.

Sunny I hated high school. Well most of it. Got scholarships and grants to go to UCDavis and left. Didn't finish up, but I was a Vet Med student. My oldest daughter did the same thing as a Med student. She still talks about going back just to finish.

I missed my BA in my 30s by just a semester, but I didn't like my major and my minor was Alternative Medicine and at the time I couldn't even be certified for it. I haven't even checked to see if I could be now. Oh well.

That major would work well in Ecuador!

Kim give them a link to the new thread. We have a lot of transplants here and Nevadans are welcome as well since we are all neighbors!

Yes I used to eat tuna before a tough test. Really helps the brain work! I worked in the non-profit sector for a while. Really enjoyed it. My BA is in Social Science with an emphasis in Math, Art and Women's Studies. I was a busy camper with too many interests!

I started at community college Lacey and loved it! The CC I went to was so supportive! They really helped me get my feet under me. I knew nothing about college! I didn't even know that I couldn't get my 4 year degree there! LOL

You don't even need a place in the country! I live in the 'burbs!

Wow guys! Hahahha, as soon as my life gets underway, Im def. looking into classes at tmcc as well! It sounds great, actually, and this whole time I've been bothered about it. I'd rather take a year or two off then go right now when I Know Im not going to try my best. And in a couple years, I'll have some extra $ saved too. The first day of college was this monday, and all I've been hearing is complaints.

Btw, you all are great. I'm glad Im back, and it's like I never left. Thanks for that.

Yea but Kim's part of the burbs is not as quiet as ours. She can't go out into her own backyard at night.

She's even had her chickens stolen! I think we should move her up here!
