Nevadans?

Just got an eMail from a guy I work with. He and another co-worker were at the air show today. They were near the top of the stands and ducked into a stairwell. I'll let him tell you the rest.

My buddy I went with called and said his girlfriend asked if I had looked at the back of his shirt. He was to the left of me, I dove into the stair well to my right, The back of his shirt was speckled with red... I never noticed, just wanted to leave. He complained about his knee on the way home, he had jeans on, underneath the skin was broke and he was bleeding... He was my shield... all of you remember that next time we're together and a disaster happens - get low!

Sunny the weight of the chain link should be sufficient if all you're talking about is cheatgrass and other small weeds.

Thanks for the congrats on the chicks, aubrey and Ron and Tyler! I will try to get a few more photos tomorrow. they are just so cute. i was not so productive today due to just staring at them.

I guess I'm not doing too bad on the coop build. At least I got started before the chicks came. Jose helped me frame the north wall today. It went much faster with his help to hold things in place. Tomorrow is another busy saturday but hopefully i can get up and get the last wall framed. it's a pretty easy one.

Well, the air race accident sure puts a damper on things. Always makes me pause and be grateful for what I have and try to complain a bit less. Each moment of life is a gift.

goodnight all.

Well I have you beat Ron! We are still building ours and we still need to move it into it's place without breaking it and they are all laying now.

So much to do and no time to do it all, oh and hubby is slow too but I love him and let him do what he wants when he wants then I push harder on him. I need my duck pond built before we get the ducks, do you think that will happen? I sure hope so.

Thanks Sheryl - it's great to know that someone out there is a bigger procrastinator than me!

Hey I lived in Stockton for years! Really liked it there but it was a little light on enough entertainment for a young person (which I was then).

Big town but most of the folks still had to drive to Sac for live music and stuff. Now I hear Sac is drying up too. Their's a new Cal tax on all venues that they say is causing so many businesses to fail but it's probably more than just that. DH and I aren't doing anything tonight. In fact He's already crashed for the night. We were gonna go to the dance but he twisted his ankle last weekend and it still isn't 100%.

You are so right Elizabeth! Sometimes we need a reminder to appreciate how lucky we are and how fragile that can be.

Aubrey, you should go next year, its great. Ive always loved it. The Thuderbirds are probably my favorite, but with the economy they only performed once this year. I like it when the Blue Angels perform because then you dont have to buy a ticket, they fly pretty low to the houses. The Thunderbirds are more rigid on where theyre allowed to fly. The Canadian Snowbirds fly close too, but I dont think their show is as good.
You can see them from where I live. I was outside when it happened, and the small race planes flew way off course over my house, and I was wondering why. I think its because they couldnt land atm. I didnt give it any thought at the time.

The performing jets will buzz the houses when they make thier turns, but the race planes dont.
Okay, so on youtube, a lot of the comments are derogatory towards the pilot, and the people as well for going. I mean, the Nevada people are really upset, its mostly out of state people who dont seem to understand that People died!! Theyre complaining about video quality, calling names, and other messed up stuff. There's just no compassion anymore.

I dont know if you can tell the difference from the photos, you'd hve to be ther ein person. Here is a Blue Angel flying low over the houses in 2010

And for comparison, a Thunderbird this thursday:

There's a huge difference when youre there. Blue Angels shake the pictures on the walls. Thunderbirds dont. Theyre both super loud though.

How terrifying! Glad they are (mostly) OK though!

Thanks for the advice Ron! No we have a lot of big stuff to yank out as well but we will have to rent a tractor for that. It's large, very flammable bushes and there are way too many of them to mess with by hand. Plus they are prime hiding spots for rattlers! Genny and I almost stepped on one on our hike to watch the fire at my neighbor's place.
Funny, I was raised in rattler country but have rarely seen them. I hike with a pretty heavy foot (on purpose for just that reason) and they will usually move out of your way well before you get to them. I've seen them from a distance, moving away, because they usually avoid humans. Plus this guy(?) was quiet! I would have stepped on him if Genny hadn't seen him first! Even when he did shake his tail it was not nearly as loud as the rattlers I was raised with. He was not aggressive though. So now I'm on a mission to remove most of their hiding spots for a ways around the house. Not a job I want to handle manually!

Every new years in LA during the rose parade the stealth bomber would fly low directly over our home. I think you would really enjoy that!

It's funny, we wanted to go because mark is really interested in the WWII planes. P51s are his favorite which I also find strange. Mark mostly wanted to see the planes up close, not the flying part

Well I've talked about the Senior dance on here before so I assume you all know which one I mean. I say Senior dance but they welcome all ages.

The only reason I will go to CA right now is to show and ever since they past a new bill I'm not really comfertable[sp] going to shows there.
