maybe if you beg and plead they will let you have the pelts!

Do they charge you to come get them? Here they charge $20 to come shoot and dispose but we live in the county and can use a firearm so we, and as always, when I say "we" I mean my husband, just shoot them. I think I was the one that brought up the relocation

....didn't mean anything except to offer FYI. I didn't know that skunk and racoons could travel miles to come back to the family.

On the hardware cloth breach...how long were the screws? I'm asking because I'm wondering if we need to use longer screws. Some of the ones we used weren't all that long!

The flock is looking great! And the goats are SO cute!

I'd also like info on the size of screw, etc. so I can be sure to up the ante when I cover with HW cloth. I'm about to start that. those raccoons are really crafty. I don't know if they are active in my neighborhood or not but I want to be prepared.

We got the ridge cap shingles on today after work. so glad the roof is done. i also got a coat of paint+primer on the fascia.

Nope it's free

only thing is we have to take them to the place, they won't come pick them up.

The screws were about a half inch. They didn't actually tear the screws out, they were just able to get the hole of the cloth around the head of the screw, so I'd recommend putting a washer or something between the cloth and the wood

that's probably what we will do because I don't think they can pull the screws out

Ok, I feel a little better. I do use washers to increase the gripping area of the screws. Thanks for the info Aubrey. It's might be painful to talk about but we all learn from it.

Little by little. They are becoming more comfortable getting a little bit closer to us everyday. They are also becoming easier to catch. Abners *ahems* just fell off and I'm afraid the dog is going to find them and bring them into the house...

Yeah sunny, it's not that hard to talk about anymore, mostly it's just embarrassing because I've had this problem for a while now and it still persists. Although I have to say, I feel it is a small victory that they were only able to get one chicken this time. It shows me that I'm almost there... Almost to fort knoxx-Dom.

That's true. Great attitude!

I know what you mean about the embarrassing thing. Often that's why I won't post about set backs. I feel like folks are thinking "well why didn't she do this instead?" Course if we all posted our problems then you'd know how common it is. Trust me it happens to all of us! Oh well that's how we learn.
