Nevadans?

Shoot! Somehow I lost my multiquotes again! 5 pages of multi quotes and no time to go over all those posts again.

I think I must be too slow a reader, it doesn't help that you all are so interesting either!!! I am sitting on the side of the road where I get service and a sheriff just pulled up saying that someone had called thinking I was dead cause I had been sitting here so long!!! hahaha!

Love all the cool info on swamp coolers!!! Wish my to-do list weren't 8 miles long already. Next year!

Sorry to hear you lost your hen Ron! :(

Glad to hear so about the great saves for others!

I now have most of my plants in water saving buckets and the dog fence is well on it's way thanks to Missy and the kids!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Miss you all terribly! Steve is hooking up a repeater this weekend so hopefully we will have service soon! Hope you all had a fantastic 4th of July! Take care!!! :)

just asking... if misters aren't good on oscillating fans, why are they sold commercially?
Not sure what you are actually thinking of as a fan and water combination. Do they come as a package? if so the fans are built to be used when wet. I repair electrical equipment that is intended to be used in water. There are differences. Coated wire connections. plugs that are filled with a water proofing gel etc.

If the mister is sold as a separate piece of equipment that is to be used with any fan of your choosing. This one actually has several possible answers. One it is sold even though it is not safe or wise to use. The manufacturer can safeguard against accidental injury or death by simply saying it was not used in a safe manner. Not all things you find for sale are even legal. It is not illegal to buy or sell them. but it is illegal to use them. One example would be the small swamp cooler valves that are made to simply pierce a pipe. They are popular and sell very well because they are simple to use. They are also a violation of the Uniform Building Code. So how can home depot get away with selling them by the thousands? because they are not responsible for you using any item in a legal manner. In fact much of what they sell is used to build something that violates all sorts of codes. You could legally use such a valve in many things just not in the plumbing of your house. You may also be able to buy a mister but it is not to be used close enough to the fan that any water reaches the fan. How difficult or inconvenient that is in reality is not the problem of the manufacturer.

So in short there is more to something working than it is sold. There is also the proper use of that item. Knowing the proper application or codes regarding it etc. No one is responsible for that but you. All the manufacturer has to say is it was not intended for that use.

wait are we talking about using misters in a coop? Im pretty sure thats one of the coop no-nos that i read about a lot before i got birds if only because moist bedding in heat creats a perfect environment for germs and parasites to grow

As well as fungus

and all sorts of other fun stuff - which naturally causes odors! I try to keep my coops as dry as possible just for that reason!

I think we're on two different threads of conversation here. Misters in regards to safety, vs. swamp coolers in homes. And dry fans in coops for ventilation.

Oh wow you guys! This is really a hoot. I was having a hard time keeping up with the conversations until Aubrey spoke up and set me straight actually. So I'm glad you did it intentionally.

I see where Lacy is coming from. When we go to Florida those mister fans are all over the place down there. They do sell them all in one kit too so I think if you buy them and something happens then the company is responsible perhaps.

My sister called me yesterday to let me in on what's going on with her and her liver disease. She's getting really close to cirrhosis now even though her blood enzymes did go down but the doctor told her yesterday they were not low enough. Her doctor said she wants to test my sister for this disease called Alpha-1 Antitrypsin. It usually attacks the lungs but it can also attack the liver either alone or together. This is a genetic disease. If she has it then her kids and grand kids will need to be tested for it. It's to late for us though and our children if we have it but they can save the grand kids if this is what killed my Mom. If there is liver disease and lung disease in the family then you have a stronger case for this disease. If this is true then I'm not in remission as we thought and my disease is getting worse without drastic changes to my diet, lifestyle and treatment. I went to my doctor today to get some lab work done. Hopefully I'll know by next week. If it's the case then we will need to test the rest of the family for this. It's a protein enzyme we are missing, if this is the case, and the liver can't do it's job properly. I'm not sure what to do right now but to wait. Everyone who has this disease will eventually go into cirrhosis. I'll start a support group if this is the case.

I'll keep everyone updated.

Goodnight! I'm on day shift tomorrow.

Hi all! Waiting for Steve's doctor to call us in right now so I'm checking in while I have service. Steve has messed up his shoulder again trying to get stuff done around here. Nothing serious though... just normal old people stuff. lol

We got the layer's coop off of it's pier blocks on Wednesday so we are making progress. In fact with Missy and the kid's help things are coming along much faster than I expected. t is very encouraging to see stuff getting done! We could afford one more helper if anyone is interested in making a little extra cash on the side. The stuff I need help with the most right now requires the use of power tools so I need someone who knows how to use these tools. I can do some training but with my physical problems the amount I'm able to do is limited.

LOL. uh yeah...i meant to cause that confusion...uhm...on purpose...
Hahaha!!!

Oh no Sheryl!!! I don't know whether to be terrified for you and your sister or to be happy that this is sometyhing that can be caught early and treated for all the granbabies and every generation to come! I guess I'm feeling both emotions right now. I know as a grandmother I would be so happy if I knew my grandchildren would not have to suffer my ills... oooh, I will be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed that somehow, it will be good news for all of you!!!!!
