Could it be the lavenders? They will lay a green egg if they came from my flock

Gorgeous color! I think 1 of my ams started laying a green egg the other day then I got 2 in one day so now I have 2 laying. They are quite green though, not blue. But I like the green eggs. It's possible that these new layers are from Pams birds even though they are younger than the ameraucanas. Most EEs do mature faster than ameraucanas do.

I'll have to get pics when I find my camera.

I wish I knew how to cook. I can follow recipes and do alright that way but I have absolutely NO imagination when it comes to doing things on my own. Your daughter is definitely blessed and so are you to have her under your roof for a few more years.

Well, I think following a recipe IS cooking and a good skill to have. Many are lacking that. I am not very creative in cooking myself but I like to try out different recipes. then I will sometimes branch out with ideas with a recipe as a starting point. Cooking creatively without recipes is a real talent that not too many people have, I think.

Elizabeth congrats to you and Jose for such a great job and schedule!!! Glad you had such a great visit with your folks!

Lacy I know a lot of folks that can't follow a recipe to save their lives! Being able to get a recipe to turn out well is nothing to sneeze at.

Ok, I lost some multiquotes along the way, congrats on the egg, Missy! It's a beauty. I've heard that the blue ones are hard to really capture in a photograph. hopefully my ameraucanas will start in soon. the wheaten/blue wheatens look most ready.

Oh, I forgot some news of note before we left on our camping trip. My little single comb, huge-wattled silkie has started to crow.

I knew he was a roo but I was hoping to keep him a bit longer. He just crows a little bit at 5:30 in the morning and never any other time. He's such a cutie.

Elizabeth, how loud is his crow? I wonder how much of a race I'll have to rehome mine when he crows.

And speaking of rehoming, I might have to rehome a drake. They're not aggressive normally, and are very quiet, but they gang up together and pick on Tater. At first it was amusing, but today she came to me, asking for protection since she's not allowed to retaliate. Both drakes came over, and one came to bite her leg. I can completely trust my dogs to stay unsupervised in the yard with the chickens, so if I allow this bullying, either Tater will just be bullied further or she might finally decide that's it, and suddenly she's not quite so trustworthy. They aren't as bad to Oh'no, but today I saw her go into her Dogloo, and they went to stand outside it, not letting her out until their females decided to move into a different part of the yard. One of the drakes tried to follow her into the Dogloo, but I don't know if it was to pick on her or to nibble on her Dog Majal cushions. Anyway, I'm going to keep an eye on them and see if it gets any worse. They really work well together to take care of their ladies, but I really do only need one drake.

Are you talking about the buff x wheaten Ameraucanas or the wheaten/blue wheaten Ameraucanas? The lavenders will lay green, the W/BW sky blue and the buff x wheatens sky blue to turquoise

I heard it two mornings but this morning I didn't. My parents were sleeping in the room closest to the coop with the window open and heard it every morning. Our bedroom is farthest away from the coop. It definitely is not as loud as the standard size cockerels' early crows. I don't think you'll have to move super fast in rehoming. I haven't posted on craigs list yet. I am slightly attached to him.

Good luck with your drake bullies. You sure don't want to mess up how well behaved your dogs are with the chickens.
