Never properly did and introduction!
I just dove right on into the crazy chicken world of BYC!
My name is Hope!
Well my husband and I are originally from the Florida Keys. I was born and raised there he moved there when he was a young boy.
Afrer moving out of the keys to north florida, We had toyed with the idea of getting chickens the first few years of being together just never really did.. when we moved to Oklahoma about 4 years ago we went into TSC in spring and it was all over i got my first 6 baby chicks...a week later 10 then even more after that... my first time with chickens started with like 30 lol. Lots and lots of research. I think the most i have had at one point is like 55. But i have had maybe 200 all together.
between eating, selling and giving away I WAS at 23... good number lol... then all my hens went broody
i dont even know how many i have now lol back to 50 i think lol.... so...(Lets say 50) 50 chickens- mixed flock
(Bantums all sorts,Red stars,Buffs,EE & back yard mix)
4 Ducks
3 Guineas
4 Dogs
5 cats
100 Quail eggs in the bator
A 15 month old
A husband
A father-in-law
And a baby due in March.
Lots going on! Im sure i left somthing out somewhere. I love animals all of ours, but one dog, were rescued in one way or another. (Hate people that miss treat animals
) iam always wanting to bring more home. But I also respect and know where my food comes from. We live off the land as much as we can. We are avid hunters and fishermen(?) And, when we had it before the prosses of moving, a 40x40 garden(plan on building a whole new one). The first year in oklahoma we didnt buy meat for 9 months only ate wild game, fish caught and veggies from the garden. We plan on getting back to that life style when we get permanently to our new 40 acres in north florida.
I am now where my animals are or i would be blowing this thing up with photos left and right.... i will add them later!!!
