Never Enough Silkies!

Thank you for accepting me as a new member. I live with my husband in Maryville, Tn. All of the kids are grown and gone, but at 66, I still have that mothering instinct so I directed it toward chickens. Silkie chickens were originally chosen because of their cuteness, small size and gentle personalities. These past 3 years have taught me a lot, but not enough. I really enjoy raising them and just watching them. They can be so hilarious at times! Each one has it’s own personality, likes and dislikes. My husband thought that my raising chickens would last about a year, well, I showed him! Ha!

Hi! Welcome to BYC! I'm 66 too!!! The perfect age for raising chickens!!! Of course, I started when I was MUCH younger, 4 years ago. But, I'm most happy to share my "long term" experience with a peer.....or anyone who will listen. Enjoy!!! You've come to the right place for info, support, sympathy (if needed) and friendship (of people who understand your need to talk incessantly about chickens).
