NEVER underestimate hawks...

Bless your heart! I'm so glad that you listened and went and got yourself checked out. And I'm glad that all of your chickies survived! You've got a good squirrel dog.

Yes, for heaven's sake, go to the ER. Just think, those hawk talons have been all over dead squirrels!

ALSO LOOK YOUR DOG OVER VERY VERY WELL. Hawk talons go just as easily into dog flesh and it is much harder to see an infection through dog hair. You might put your dog on antibiotics, also.

I did already, and so far he looks just fine. He never kills anything but he loves to pin things down to get a better look. When I got out there he had both paws on it's back. I'll continue to watch him really well, and at the same time watch my arm.

glad your ok.

for going and getting check out check out that dog and give him an extre treat. that would have been one dead hawk if it happened to my And no it isn't illegal to kill a hawk if it is attached to your arm you are allowed to defend yourself

So glad you're ok. We had a Bald Eagle on the ground in my pasture the other day. I'm still not sure what s/he was doin(wasn't eating anything), but I sure as heck was not going near it!

IN all the worry for your injuries, we did not say about your Chicken-Saving-Dog, Wow, good job!
He stopped the hawk from getting your chicks while they ran for cover. He did exactly what you told him too, "protect the chickens!"
