I traded two roosters for two hens with a friend from work and ended up coming home with six hens yes six. Now I am wondering my chickens free range, The new girls were always penned up. How should I go about adding them to there new surroundings? Thanks for the info...

First of all, I LOVE YOUR SCREENNAME!!! What a crack up. And congrats on the new ladies.

I think I would just put them out there and see how they do at first. You may need to keep them seperated for a while til they get to know each other.

they should be quarantined for a month first. then introduce slowly. adding newbies at night while the other chickens are asleep works pretty well for some.

always watch them when together at first...kind of like bringing home a new baby! (except the quarantine part!

)
