New and need rat help !

Can chicken poo ever look like rat poo?? We have rats near our dogs kennel and chicken coop, have tried all things to get rid of , cleaning, smoking them out , etc. new poo in clean coop though, wondering if it’s rats or chicken ?

Hello and Welcome to BYC. Glad to have you here in this poultry lovers community. That sure looks like rat poo to me. Only a hardware cloth wire will keep rats out. You need a skirting so they can't tunnel under too.

How old are your birds?

I have had chick poop look similar in size and shape.. but not from hens.. and I usually expect to see a bit of white or white cap.. Looks like rat to me..

Yes that looks like rat dropping. You need to figure out where they are getting in and fix the area depending on where it is. They will keep getting in unless the hole is corked off.

Hello, it does look like rodent poop. Be sure you don't have feed laying around that attracts them and hardware cloth everywhere/anywhere they could use to access the coop & run.

If you do a forum search on "Rats" you will find many, many threads with helpful information on how to rid yourself of rats. Basic concept is don't provide what they need and want, take it from there as to "how." Thanks for helping see that I'm "free ranging," whatever that means.... Good Luck.

Hello, and welcome to BYC. Not certain that is rat poop. Something next to it like a quarter for size indication would be helpful.
