Both of my orders arrived today; yay!!! Now they may grow up together. ☺️ Here's the breakdown:

4 Bielefelders - one cockarel; four pullets
6 Niederrheiners - straight run (I must hurry up and wait . . . A G A I N to know the whosawhatsit!

All arrived safely; no casualties.

Oh, and hubby says there was an extra bird from M. McMurray. I put them all in the brooder before figuring out who is who. I DO know two of the chicks that look like chipmunks are Bielefelder girls. The cockeral is a very light yellow bird from what I recall when I peeked inside while at the post office.

The thing is, the Niederrheiners are also yellow and light. Oy vey, gonna be fun figuring this out.

Ia m hereby writing, this is my LAST order for a while (due to coop space even though they will eventually be free rangers). For real, it is . . . my last chicks purchase. Now, I want to simply get to know them and vice versa and learn to properly care of them all.

Wonder what the mystery bird is though 🤔

So cute. I have to restrain myself when at tractor supply or rural king, especially this time of year since winter is coming. But come spring I’m ready for chickies. 🐥

So cute!!! I wish I could get some more chicks!

10 chicks from Tractor Supply. One week later, Easter Eggers come in, better get 6 of those, one more week, a local person (by local, I mean 3 hours away) has Russian Orloff eggs. Never tried hatching chicken eggs. A few weeks later, 12 new Orloff chicks... 28 new chicks and I still don't have all the breeds I want to try...Better start working on a new coop. After all, this one is almost done...

Oh how adorable!!! 🥰 they are so cute!!! I can’t wait for Spring! I’m hoping to get some Brahmas, but I’m not gonna push it either because I just got my ducks!! ❤️
We lost one db chick yesterday. He/she was about 9 weeks old. All other birds in coop seem fine.
I love bieles!
I can't wait to see them as they grow up!
From what I have read I concur. Check it, for now, we have 13 breed flock. At this very early stage it is looking like my faves are: brahma, bieles, and neiderrhiners based solely on feathers at maturity and purported reputations that I have read online. None are laying age yet but that may colour my final determination.

I think I got an extra from M. McMurray so we do not even know what THAT breed will be. Also, our bieles are 1 cockarel and three pullets; but no idea the straight run of the neiderrhiners. It'll be fun seeing what it all turns out to be.
