New Aussie Member

Hi everyone, I'm a new member from Tasmania in Australia. I currently have a mixture of Faverolle, Barnevelder, Australorp and Plymouth Rock chicks ranging in age from 1 week to 5 months old. I have 68 at the moment but that will change as I reduce the flock for breeding once they've grown up a bit. I live on a lovely farm and they free range all day.
That's a lot of birds do you sell? What kind of predictors do you have we have raccoons fox and coyotes

I will sell some when they're a bit older and start reproducing. Here in Tasmania there aren't any foxes - some people have said they've seen some but it's general opinion there aren't any. We have Quolls, hawks and eagles that all kill chickens but I've been very fortunate and never had any trouble with them.

Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!
Thanks, I'm already adding to my small kit now.

Hi KimberAU, quick question: where do you find your chickens? I’d love some Plymouth Rocks but not sure where to find some to buy? (I’m down south)

Hi and welcome. Where abouts down south are you, I'm near Oatlands. Do you want to incubate and hatch your own or buy young chickens? I hatched all mine (only have 5 so far) in my incubator so I could give you the contact details of who I got the eggs from. Otherwise I don't have any other contacts for young chickens at this stage, however I will probably have a pullet and cockerel available in roughly a month if you're interested?
