I went to pick up my quilt frame that I won from speckledhen and asked for a few of her Ameraucan's eggs because I had 2 broody hens. Well the broody's left the nest and I stuck them in the incubator. Out of 14 eggs (4 were my eggs) 9 hatched. I can say these are the friendliest little chicks I have ever hatched. Just goes to prove that super friendly hens makes wonderful friendly babies. I am so in love!! Thanks speckledhen you and your flock are GREAT!!!! Melissa

I'm thrilled for you! So happy they were fertile. Now, as they grow, maybe we can figure out if they are Dutch's or Isaac's babies. When she came to get the quilt frame, the Ameraucanas were in that transition period between one rooster and another, so no telling which rooster sired the babies. Actually, it could be that a couple are Ike's and a couple are Dutch's. Will be fun to see!

In that last picture, the one in the front with the headspot looks to be a BR x Ameraucana. I'd say any with a headspot are probably Dutch's babies.

There is one black with a head spot and one gray with a head spot. One solid black with a white belly, one gray with brown around the eyes and beak, and one black with a white beard. They are too cute and super friendly. I hatched two of my SLW and two RSL x SLW chicks. I was wanting to know if they would be a good egg laying chicken. Now I have to wait and see if they are hens or roosters.

I can tell you that my true Ameraucanas and my Ameraucana crosses are really fabulous layers. And the shades of their eggs vary alot, but the Ameraucanas are all blue and the crosses' eggs are all some shade of green. Such a pretty carton they make, especially if you put them in a yellow carton!
