New babies

Hello. I just bought three new baby chickens last Thurdsay - presumably born on Tuesday (28FEB). They apparantly sex them but I've heard somewhere there is around a 1% chance they are wrong. They are a Barred Rock, an Ameraucana, and a silver Wyandotte. Is there any behavior to look out for to indicate one might be a rooster? I know every time i reach in the Wyandotte sprints right for my hand.

Way too early to tell. post pics when they are 6 weeks. Gender related behaviors to be on the lookout for: egg laying and crowing.

No, behavior is not an accurate indicator of sex. You have to wait until 6 weeks to start sexing with these breeds. Combs are the biggest thing to look at.

do you know what kind of easter egger? At 4 weeks it is like 20% bigger than the others and I wanted to look up if that is common for its type. But of course I have no idea what type it is..

For barred rock, I believe the boys have more white on the top of their heads down to their necks, so I think you've got a gal there!

I've only had 2 wyandotte chicks (so far muahaha), but they've both been spunky gals, so you'll just have to wait.

For "americanas"/easter eggers, ugh idk. I had 2/3 boys in my last "sexed" batch, and I have two now that are 4 weeks and I can't tell... I know it's a broad range, but weeks 4 - 8 should give you some signs like reddening comb and usually red around the shoulders. Both my guys from last year had red patches on their shoulders. One crowed at 4 weeks and the other weeks later.

By about 12 weeks, you'll see pointy, shiny hackle & saddle feathers on any breed.
