Hey All,
I finally got my chicks. Feed store gets them from the hatchery I was going to use anyway. They were out of barred rocks, so I got 3 austrolorps, 1 wyandotte and 2 sex links(can't remember which kind) They are all about 2 weeks old active and eating like little pigs. Oh and one of the lorps already has an attitude. She pecks me every time I put my hand in the box. Maybe I got a rooster and don;t know yet. Will post pics as well as the coop that is a work in progress.
1. One question. How critical is grit for these babies and how soon? They are eating chick starter which is pretty finely ground and I will let them outside in the playpen for short periods when I can watch them. It is plenty hot here in Austin, TX still so they won't get cold. I can get grit at the tractor supply store but don't know if I should rush out to get some or wait a bit.
Thanks
Alice
