New baby donkey! Thanks for the pictures! MORE PLEASE!!!

He looks about 6 or 7 months old. Usually they have their baby fur the entire first year - and shed it out the next spring. But, sometimes it can rub off (our baby has hers rubbed off her face and neck, because that is her favorite place to be scratched, LOL.) Our 10 month old jack still has his fur.

Ok, you asked for it, here's the pics <g>.

This is Blackjack, our 10 month old right after we got him.

Here is my baby - Butters - she is 4 months old in this pic.

Mojo and Juju at about 9 months old - Mojo is dark, Juju is light - they are half brother and sister - have the same sire

Mojo and Juju at about 11 months old (their baby fur is gone - well, mostly - donkeys shed out later than horses do in the spring)

Mama donkey is a tall miniature - she is just under 36 inches. I don't know how big Butters will get - she is still very small, so she may be a smaller miniature - the others are all standard donkeys.

Mojo (the black one) came out frosted in places when her baby fur left her - I think that Blackjack will be more solid dark brown - no frosting seem evident under his baby fur.

Where Butters fur is gone, she is a butterscotch color - her father was spotted, and Mama has spotted genes in her - just came out with no spots. Butters has spotted legs and a big white patch on her mane.

BTW - you may notice that Mojo and Juju look rather gawky - "teenage" donkeys usually look gawky.
They have also filled out better since this pic - we had a pair of horses in with them who ran them away from the food a lot - we got rid of those two horses, everyone is MUCH happier now.

I love donkeys - they are so fun to just watch.

Peace -
Meriah

My donkeys put up with our dogs, they prefer one over the others, he is the only one who is not a herding breed, ironically he's the livestock guardian dog. Sometimes they all play together, but most of the time the dogs keep clear, unless they donks are trying to get their food.

Your little baby should be fine with goats and dogs if he is raised with them. My girls were 1 1/2 when we got them and they adjusted to all our animals just fine. They are excellent guardians of their own pasture (which they share with the geese and ducks). They are not aggressive with people at all, in fact they follow every man, woman, and child that happends to walk down the bridle trail behind the pasture until they finally stop and pet them.

Your little guy, and everyone else's are all very cute!

Looks like we have enough donkeys on here to start a little fan club.

. Mine is still a little more fuzzy on the hind quarters than the pictures show, but 5-6 mos. is probably a pretty good guess. And jaimi, that little black w/ the white around the eyes, OMG just makes me melt

Oh I don't know, they were both born in a large free ranging herd here in Colorado. I got them from Longhopes Donkey Shelter after they rescued them from the auction. They are half sisters and are the same age. One is a paint and one is a strawberry roan.

They are so sweet, I just love when they come up and ask for treats and attention.

We have two intact mini donks, the larger one only gets "overly" ahem "aggressive" with the smaller.....

Despite the mini mare that is in with them. I am beginning to wonder what kind of relationship these boys have
