We adopted a Barred Rock rooster this week to be the Romeo and hero to our 6 hens. He is 4 months old. This morning I was expecting to hear him usher in the day, but there was silence. What is the average age for a Barred Rock rooster to come “into his own”? He has no fancy feathers growing on his tail yet and there are no spurs on his feet. Here is a picture of him with our ladies when we introduced them to each other last night. They all adjusted real well and he had settled in with the ladies with no problems. I am just wanting some ideas of when to expect him to mature.
