New bator...how do I use it?

If the lid needs to stay on, then how do I turn them 3-4 times daily?
If it takes a while for the temperature to stabilize, then how do I not screw everything up during the last few days when I have to change the temperature and humidity?

I'm in the same boat you are-- same bator, first clutch... but, as for the turning-- Mama had to go and eat etc once in a while, right? So, as long as we're not talking about an extended period of time, I would think hand-turning is just fine! Anyone with more experience?

I have an auto turner. It doesn't really take long to stabilize - it just takes a while for you to get it at the right temp. At the end of the incubation the temp doesn't fluctuate THAT much - you just have to watch it and make small adjustments here and there.

You can open and turn. It takes time to stabilize when the eggs go in at room T and they have to heat up. You don't have to change the temp once you get it set and I tape over the knob.

After sitting up there for a few minutes..I finally understand it! Got it at just barely over 100 and I figure it will go down a tiny bit to 100 even. Hygrometer (right?) is next. Where might I get one of those. Anyone know exactly what temps and humidity should be at each step of incubation? Thanks

I'm learning that humidity is a slightly flexible subject, lol.

I am at 51% and happy with that. The last three days and during the hatch it should be increased to 65-70%, I believe. Temps should always be around 99.5-100 for forced air incubators.
