New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

Well, Brandy is the least of my issues now. She seems to be filling in nicely. Meanwhile, my precious 9 year old Belgian D'Anver hen, Penny, has a crop malfunction so that probably means her time is near-she has never had that in her life. And the Tiny Terrorist is on her last few days, may not be here in the morning. She's older than Penny by a couple of years.

I’m pretty sure mine is a Brahma but could do with an expert view, he might be a Cochin 😺

@Bunny-bum at this point, it appears to be a pea comb with the center raised higher than the two sides, a typical pullet's pea comb. And the coloring doesn't appear to be male, either, if that is, indeed, a Brahma. I could be wrong, of course, and as with all things chicken, time will tell.

I’m just checking on breed at this point as ludo has saddle feather 😊

If he's male, should be seeing solid black hackle and chest feathers very, very soon, like this guy, my Bash's brother. Brahma males are do not have patterned feathers on their chests or wings. Of course, individuals do develop at slightly different paces and time will tell the tale. Mine don't generally get saddle feathers until they're about 12-13 weeks old.

I’ll take a picture shortly

Does appear to be saddle feathers there. The smutty feathers on the chest should be clearing out soon, then, if he is a pure Brahma. His chest will be solid, shiny black. Here is the slightly older version of Bruno I posted above. DSC03103.JPG
They are such impressive roosters, aren't they? Bash is as gentle as a kitten. Good thing with his size.
