I have got two creles. Rooster and a hen. I've been told it'll be another 2employee months before they're ready to start breeding. What otherstuff breeds can I mix with my creels to make other breeds?

I thought Crele was a color not neccissairly a breed but I don't raise chickens so I'm not sure.

Hi Larry,
As I remember, crele is wildtype with the barring gene added. Now when you mix any other color except wildtype ,with wildtype, it dissappears. That's because wildtype is a completely recessive color palette. Every other color is stronger than it and covers it up. So if you mix any other color (except wildtype and crele) with crele, probably the only recognizable thing you will see in the chicks is the barring. Crele is a lovely color and well worth breeding. Why don't you breed it for a season and enjoy the lovely chicks and how they grow.
If you decide to go ahead instead and get creative, , I found this little 49 page book very educational about beginning breeding and how to do it the best way. Yes, it's an old book...but its wisdom is timeless. Plus, it is filled with examples from life instead of all those genetic formulas which I found hard to understand.

P.S. Larry, wildtype is also known as Black Breasted Red ( BBR). This color
is part of a general catagory of color in fowl known as Duckwing .
The Duckwing fowl come in many colors. In this case the duckwing is wildtype.

As the first response stated Crele is a colour, not a breed. Crossing another breed/variety with your Crele's [whatever breed they are] won't make a third breed it will make cross breeds, AKA mutts.
