New Brown Chinese Geese

I'm so jealous people are still getting goose eggs. My American Buff hasn't laid in months and she lost her first clutch this spring to a pig at her original owner's house and to snakes at mine. :/

Yes, I felt horrible about them getting her eggs. She even laid in the dog kennel on the way home. I let her set and took a few eggs from her to incubate just in case. I had mud all over me so I just set them in the door on the counter and asked the roommate to move them away from the edge. She did not so the counter surfing poodle got those. She had six or seven eggs she was sitting on that were developing as she cracked one (panicking with the snakes I'm sure). She started sitting really inconsistently and when she completely abandoned the nest I took the remaining two eggs inside, but they were obviously not good. I'm hoping for better luck next Spring. And if all else fails I have a friend that breeds Buff Geese about an hour and a half away and I'm going to pick up goslings. :)

That’s annoying, I’ve lost quite a few batches of muscovies this year. And I’m probably not going to have many mallards or Calls hatch either.

Hopefully next year goes better, snakes can be real pains.

5/9/19
I put two of the goose eggs under the muscovy on the third, and they won’t be due to hatch until 7/10/19. I’ll begin candling them at 17 days. Also, the goose is laying every second day. And she hasn’t been using the kennel that I have set up for her to lay in.

We’ve just acquired geese these last few months. We had a brown Chinese gander then got him a Chinese white. A coyote got him. Since we’ve had difficulty find her a new mate.
We’ve ended up with 4 Toulouse and a white one with no clue as to what it is.
We read that Muscovys will hatch geese eggs. Just not sure on their hatch %.
We did however get word of a mate for her that we’re going to make the trip for. We’ve gotten rather addicted to these beauties.

Update 4/10/19:
The Muscovy stopped sitting on the eggs a few weeks ago. So I had to throw those eggs. Currently the goose is broody on two eggs, one that is average sized and the other is massive. I’ve candled them and they are both developing. They will start hatching around the 26/10/19 I think as the first technical day was the 22/9/19.
