New BST Policy -- questions

Sara, that's a great point regarding advertising just a link to another auction site in the BST section. Honestly I don't think this has been discussed between the staff, but I think it should be.

I'll bring it up with them and we'll adjust the rules if needed. Thanks!

Okay, I'm confused. I do understand that you want only the listing and how much/where it is. But why are the posts that have that and only that plus pictures of the stock also being given the post from terrileacy? The posts I mean don't have any response except from the administrator. Or are they not in compliance either? If they are not, then I do not understand what is now acceptable.

Price, location, pictures of the stock--are these acceptable? Is any other information acceptable from the original poster?

If someone has a question about the listing, are they allowed to post that question? For example how they will be shipped or if extras are available?

Maybe it would be simpler to understand if you gave us a format for a sample listing and all we have to do is fill in the blanks. Because right now I am collecting eggs that I was hoping to list...except now I do not know how.

Please help.

Rusty

You can put your info in your first post. Yes questions will be asked and should be answered.

You will find your answer to why I posted in all the threads one page back

Okay, I did read this. I guess I am dumb or something, but I'm still really confused about this. Are you saying those posts were okay but you were giving them the new rules anyhow? Would it be acceptable to post something similar for my own stuff?

Sorry to be such a dunce here but I really want to do this right. Thank you for your patience.

I agree that cross-posting to another bidding site doesn't seem quite right... if you're not allowed to cross-link to competing sites, why allow that?

I like the new rules, and I think it's great to lock the thread once the item has sold. However, I'm still not sure if one of my questions has been answered -- is it okay to support a BYC seller by adding pictures of your birds, commenting on successful hatches, etc. (before the item has been sold)? Or is that considered "chatting" which is bad?

Yes what I was saying is that barring an email or PM to each and every member who participates in the BST threads, it was easier and more attention getting to post in each thread on the first page of each section. That is where the majority of the members go and look. If your post conforms to the rules and format, then youa re fine.

Farmergal, we are talking about excessive chatter. If the seller requests that you do so, I see no reason why you couldn't support them in that manner. Trouble it has the potential to turn into pages and pages of pics and feedback. Somethings will be on a case by case basis. It might be best to let the seller add your pics to their first post. If it is excessive to the point that people trying to sell can't get a chance because one thread keeps getting bumped up with pics of birds hatched, then it becomes an issue.
That is the main area of complaint we get for the BST sections. Threads get bumped and bumped and bumped with people not buying or selling, just commenting.

Hello I am happy everyone is actually talking about these new guidelines because everything has gone soo fast...I got scared at first to see how everything looked the same I was soo confused LOL

I am going to be honest though I like the fact we are trying to help the people that dont get a look on their threads due to other people posting them down the section. Also because I know this must feel awful and is annoying to many.

But I do have to add I think that this has to happpen becuase the items that have been sold just go down and the ones that are still for sale are still up.

By the way should it be a problem with the feedback chatter thing?I do agree with Farmergal because I dont think it should since this does help the consumer to feel secure in what they are purchasing and also ensures trust with the seller.

Also is there a problem if we describe our items that we have for sale in the title? I have been having problems with that and want to be sure.

thank you for the help!

As I told you in the pm exchange we just had, we want the format followed.
At least until everyone is onboard. We can revisit things like that later, but using the format set down in the rules keeps the area clean and neat and easy to read through.

I think this is going to allow all of us a better chance at purchasing and selling. I always thought random chatter through out the BST threads were distractants from what was originally posted for sale (i.e. egg chains).

I'm excited to see how this turns out.

I have been a part of many forums as they have implemented new rules and regulations. The only thing that I am a little wary of is that, eventually, each of these forums were remitting several new rules and regulations every week, until the forum pretty much died.

I also completely understand that we need rules..we have gone through life with rules and why should we stop here..we may not like it and when have we ever liked rules but everyone has them to follow..thanks for being patient as you can with us Administration...
