New building for my birds

No plans to do anything for show prep. I would not want to introduce any more water/humidity into the building. Already wondering about dehumidifier. I currently just use 4 buckets and change water as needed. I usually just set it up in the garage. The location needed for drying varies with the weather and time of year. I have had them dry in the shade under a tree, in cages in the garage, or in the basement for late fall or winter shows.

That Partridge hen is in a 5' x 6' by 7' high pen. She flew from the ground up to the upper lip of her pen within 5 minutes of being placed in it. I wish the rest of her was as good as her wings!

lol...my eyes popped out of my head when I realized that one of your birds was able to get up there...amazing? oh and your thread is awesome!!!! not finished reading it all yet ...and I NEVER read through threads...this is very interesting...thanks and just amazing...love your birds also...

Do you have males in those floor pens with the females? what is the ratio of females to males in there if you do? Do the males fight if they are in there together? or do you place the females in the male cages for breeding individually?

I do have multiple males in the grow out pens and 1 male each in with the Black hen. Partridge, and Columbian hen pens. Some will not fight and some will after coexisting peacefully in the same large pens for months. That is why I currently have 12 males in the male cages. Ratio varies. 3 Columbian males for 9 hen/pullets, 4 Buff Columbian males for 4 hen/pullets, 3 Black males for 5 hens, 2 Blacks that are my grandsons that cold breed but they have the run of the place,1 Birchen for 1 Birchen hen,1 Silver laced for 2 hens, Silver Penciled 2 trios, Partridge 1 male 5 hen/pullets. and 1 Mottled male for improvement projects..

I seriously still can't get over how great this is! Kudos to you, I hope you feel pride everytime you go out to your set up.

I'm still not done so I can't yet appreciate it.

It is 12 F outside and the water is not freezing in the building but it is still cold enough in there that building the last of the stuff that needs to be done is slower than earlier this fall. . I have some cages left to build, roosts, automatic waterers to install and some other minor stuff that all takes time.. And breeding season will be here for all of us before we know it.

The newest residents of the new building. Gold Laced Wyandotte Bantams. A friend and I went to the Ohio Nationals and commented how we saw plenty of Silver Laced but no Gold Laced. One thing led to another and now I have another breed and variety that while not rare they are not commonly seen in shows anymore. I still have 5 cages left to build but my hands still ache/hurt from the last cage builds. The J ring applier thing (pliers sort of thing) is quite hard on my hands. Starting to clean up and the filter is removing LOTS of sawdust and poultry caused dust. Filter needs serviced regularly but air quality is really pretty good. Have given several 5 minute tours for some good friends who are always willing to help out in any way they can. Special Thanks to Trish, K, Kevin, Ron. and Phil for your interest and support! More pictures when and if I ever finish. At first I thought maybe I would be done by Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then New Years, now I hope it is before I start hatching.
