New building for my birds

Changed plans again. Decided not to use the plastic poultry netting and go with 6' tall vinyl coated poultry netting (Black vinyl chicken wire) for the fewest seams and cuts. Drove to southern Wisconsin for the wire for the pens and the bottom of male cages. I needed wire made in Massachusetts, sold in Wisconsin, and to be used in Iowa. Freight is high enough that when I was getting 2 rolls it became cheaper (and faster) to drive than to have it shipped.

This wire does not have any sharp edges or corners to catch feathers on. Love it.

Have made a few mismeasurements and decided not to fix them because it won't change a thing structurally. Lots of progress made much left to do. More pictures soon.

Hmmm can't see pics, just red x's, even when I right click and hit show pictures. . .is it because I'm a newioe here?
Wants to see the chicken castle!

It's not because you are a newbie. LOL
Not sure what causes that. I have had it happen to me before too.
I've seen some strange restrictions on forums. Can see the pics today today.
Heck of a nice building! Looking forward to seeing it progress.

I now have about 90% of the wire hung on the hen pens. Now to go back and put up more staples to keep it up and tight. Next project to get 8 doors built and hung this weekend. With luck I will get to start the individual male cages this weekend.

I started today needing to finish putting on the doors that I had finished on Sunday. I did not get all the roosts in yet(almost none). I moved 7 pens of birds to the new building and pens late this afternoon. I ended up putting in the old waterers in each pen because I just did not have time to get it all done. Decided it was better to move the birds and do that a little later. I moved pens of Blacks, Columbian, Buff Columbian, Partridge, Silver laced hens in with the Columbian pullets I show. I also have 2 pens of growing out birds that are doing well which include Black, Partridge, Silver Penciled,Columbians and Buff Columbians. I still have 4 Columbian x Silver Laced Cockerels in my shop almost ready to move to the new building. Any questions? I would be happy to try to answer them.

That's a beautiful coop and some beautiful birds!!!

Do you let your hens go broody sometimes or do you incubate all your eggs? The reason I ask is, we are building our Cochin coop now and I am wondering if I should build in the nest boxes. Thanks in advance,

Mary

I rarely let a hen hatch the eggs. I collect eggs daily and set my incubator every Saturday. Then I know when they will hatch and don't have to track day count. On Thursday I put that weeks eggs in the hatcher (another inexpensive incubator with no turner). On Sat and Sunday they will all hatch out. On Monday evening I unplug it and throw away the quitter eggs
